A (M) indicates that manual submission is required; there are several reasons
why this may be so:
- Major Indexes are manual submissions because hand-tailoring submissions to these
indexes is a must for optimum results. - If a General Indexes is a manual submission, this means either that the site
does not accept automatic submissions, or their submission system is sufficiently
weird that it's tough to automatically submit. - Special Indexes are typically manual submissions because they are so specific
to a particular interest that most people don't need to submit to more than 1 or 2
of them, so it's not worth it for me to write and maintain an automatic submission
script. - Finally, many (but not all) of the non-english-language International Indexes
are manual submissions because (a) most people don't need to submit to them and
(b) it's more difficult to write scripts for them when you can't read the
